Go Mobile in 2014

Did you know there are now more mobile devices in the world than people? Isn’t that wild? While it’s definitely a crazy statistic, it’s also a huge indicator that consumers are big into tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices. This is great news for you as a business owner, because it gives you more opportunities to market to your consumers. Here are a couple pointers to make your business mobile-friendly in 2014.

Try a Scrolling Website

You have probably seen an influx of websites that have their content listed all on the same page, and you can simply scroll from section to section instead of clicking through to another page. The reason for this is because people are searching on their phones and tablets, instead of on their computers. It’s a heckuva lot easier to scroll through content on a phone or tablet than it is to click a tiny link. If you find that most of your customers are tablet and smartphone users, then consider changing your website design to make it easier for those folks.

Get Responsive

If you’re not sold on the scrolling design, then at least make sure your website is responsive. This means that when someone visits your website on a mobile device, the screen shrinks to fit the size of the screen. There’s nothing worse than trying to find information on your smartphone and trying to navigate a full website larger than mobile life. Whatever you do, make sure that your website uses a responsive design.

Mobile Shopping

I did all of my Black Friday shopping from the passenger side of my Subaru while listening to Jazz music, stopping to coo at my baby, and wink at my hotstuff husband. How did I do this? Mobile shopping. Yeah, I got all of my Christmas presents on the way to Grandma’s house for some leftover turkey sandwiches by simply clicking here and there on my mobile phone. It was awesome and I will do it again next year. People absolutely love shopping on their phones. That means if you have a website and you sell a product, it’s time to make mobile ordering a reality.
