It turns out more and more peeps are turning to Instagram all the time. In August of this year, Instagram even beat out Twitter for mobile users. That’s right. According to comScore, Instagram had about 7.3 million daily mobile viewers, while Twitter had about 6.9 million daily mobile users. What does this mean for businesses? It’s time to consider jumping on the bandwagon.
What is Instagram?
Instagram is a free photo app for your phone. You can take a picture, choose from different filters to apply, and then post it to Instagram. Many users link their Instagram profiles with Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites to share photos with friends outside of Instagram.
How can businesses use it?
You can take photos of new products, events, things around the office, or things related to your business to start conversations and pique interest in your business. Similar to Twitter, you can add hashtags using the # symbol to index your photos under a certain topic. You can also host photo contests to get customers involved and talking about your business.
What’s the benefit of using it?
While Instagram isn’t pursuing marketing or advertising opportunities at this time, your business can start an Instagram account to further establish brand, to reach potential customers, and to create more links to your blog and website.
At the end of the day, Instagram is easy and free. It’s a tool that businesses can use to help boost their online presence and create online credibility, as well as engage with potential customers. What has been your experience with Instagram? What are your questions or tips?
